What is ‘Reiki’?

‘Reiki’ is the Japanese word for ‘universal life force energy’. It is a compound of two words – ‘rei’, which means ‘universal’, and ‘ki’‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’, which means ‘vital life force energy’. It is a pure form of energy whose main quality is unconditional love which is centred at the heart. We all are born with Reiki energy, that is, the universal life force energy, but due to various experiences in life, emotional and mental stress, it gets distorted and we start inviting different ailments.

Healings based on universal life force energy have always been there in existence. It is an ancient form of Tibetan healing rediscovered in early 1800s by Japanese spiritualist, healer, medical physician and scholar, Dr. Mikao Usui. He sought to search for the secret behind the miraculous healing powers of Jesus Christ and Lord Buddha. He shared this knowledge with the world through the Usui Shiki Ryoho, today known as ‘Reiki’.

Reiki is taught in a slightly different way from other healing techniques. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an ‘attunement’ (initiation) process which opens up the blocked energy centres thereby creating a special link between the student and Reiki, that is, the eternal Source of everything.

The flow of Reiki energy brings a change in the whole attitude towards oneself and the outside world. After the ‘attunement’, one can heal self and others, animals and plants, situations, and balance the flow of health.

Difference between Reiki and other healing modalities:

Reiki first removes existing energy blockages in the aura or energy body which prevents proper and balanced flow of health. The healing energy acts directly on the energy body level (chakras) providing nourishment and energy.

Next, it acts on the glandular system (endocrine system) of the physical body inducing a healing function which is transmitted throughout the body.

Finally, it acts directly at the location of physical issue.

When we experience the development of the disease, it first manifests at energy level, that is, the chakras malfunction, and it is only after that that it gets manifested in the physical body.

Lack of love causes a distortion in our emotional health and inner peace resulting in physical manifestation of the disease. ‘Reiki’ provides an unlimited and unconditional supply of love energy. When one takes Reiki, the gentle, compassionate, loving nature of this energy gives an experience of satisfaction, contentment and anand.

Reiki heals even without physical proximity. Time and space are of no significance in this modality.

Our Karuna Reiki® classes are taught in the same style as those taught by Mr William Rand, founder of Karuna Reiki® .
Karuna Reiki® Certification is from the International Centre for Reiki Training (21421 Hilltop St. #28, Southfield, Michigan 48033, U.S.A.) duly signed by Mr William Rand.
When teaching, you can teach the entire method in 3 days to those who are already Reiki Masters as it can be split into 2 days for Karuna Practitioner I & II and 1 day for Karuna Mastership.

Karuna Reiki® is divided into four levels – Two Practitioner and two Master levels.
